Earlybird entered the livestock nutrition industry selling complete feeds in 1979. In 1985, manufactured feed processing began at the old El Paso mill. Manufacturing in our current Goodfield facility started in 1995. In 2018, the Roseville facility was completed and also began manufacturing feed. This second location has significantly expanded the territory handled by bagged and bulk delivery services.
Significant growth of the dealer web provided opportunities to acquire both the Chapin and Marionville, Missouri businesses in 2020 and the Triumph location in 2021. Operations in Chapin have been greatly expanded with the completion of our most efficient manufacturing facility in September 2021. Pelleting capabilities were added to the network of facilities in early 2022

25 years later, we remember. 🇺🇸
We remember the lives that were lost, the courage shown by so many, and the way Americans stood together in the days that followed.

The standard was set early.
If you read our feature in the Stock Show Trendsetters Magazine, you’ll learn about Ralph Gudeman and the beginnings of Earlybird. But one detail says a lot about the kind of company he built: at 86 years old, Ralph still comes into the office every day.
That work ethic started long before Earlybird did.
Growing up on a dairy farm, Ralph was up at 4:30 every morning helping his dad milk cows by the age of 7. By 8, he was milking on his own.
“Growing up like that taught you how to work hard for the rest of your life. I didn’t know anything different,” Ralph says. “Looking back now, I appreciate it. My dad and I would talk business while we milked, and those conversations are still ingrained in me today.”
Those early mornings helped shape a work ethic that would eventually help shape Earlybird.
And today, you can see it everywhere — in the people making the feed, answering the phone, loading trucks, walking through barns, helping customers and investing in the next generation.
Ralph and Dan didn’t just build a company. They set a standard.
A standard of showing up. Working hard. Taking care of people. And doing things the right way.
That was Earlybird then.
It’s Earlybird today.
And it’s the standard we intend to carry forward.
